David Harbour was grizzled Santa in Violent Night (2022) who has to save a family from a group of mercenaries. Santa is in trouble which is well explained early on and what better way to solve that problem then to become involved in a hostage situation, where Santa steps up to save the day using protection of the magic realm, and of course combat skills.
